What Is Norovirus and the symptoms of Norovirus

Norovirus is a common viral infection that causes gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and bowel). Norovirus is highly contagious and the most common place for an breakout is in an aged care facilities, schools, child care and hospitals. Breakouts can occur in any time of the year but are most common in winter and spring. Symptoms that occur from norovirus quickly and cause the patient to experience masses amount of vomiting and diarrhea, other symptoms can be:

·         Nausea.

·         Abdominal pain

·         Muscles aches 

·         Headaches

·         Tiredness

·         Low grade fever.


Symptoms of gastroenteritis frequently last up to 24 to 72 hours. People normally recover completely without any long term effects but norovirus can be dangerous to younger kids, elderly and people with comprised immune systems.
